MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The aim of the Mechanical Engineering programme is to provide broad-based education and training in mechanical engineering sciences and their applications that will enable graduates to meet the challenges of the engineering profession in a rapidly changing environment such as exists in a developing country like Ghana. These challenges require the ability to apply existing knowledge in new ways thereby creating new systems and opportunities as well as adapting existing technology to local production conditions. They require the ability to \manage, service, maintain and improve upon existing as well as new systems. The selection courses are therefore guided by these concepts. The programme aims at
The specific objectives are:
- Producing high-calibre graduates with solid theoretical background for academia, research institutions and industry
- Producing well- grounded graduates who are capable of engaging in self-development using available modern tools of self-tuition.
- Producing well-grounded graduates who are capable of conducting academic research at the master‘s and doctoral levels.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Since engineering involves science and intensive calculations in almost all course areas, it is expected that to gain acceptance into the programmes there should be set educational requirements or criteria in terms of academic qualification in science and mathematics leading to research development and innovation. Therefore A minimum of Six (6) credits in the WACSSE including English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is expected from each of the students submitting application forms.
